What we believe
Who is Jesus?
Jesus came from a small town. He grew up in a small town. His small town was a bit like some of the towns of Circular Head, it was a distant part of a distant region of the Roman Empire. Jesus begun his three year public ministry by declaring that his mission was to proclaim good news to the poor, freedom for the prisoners, sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free and proclaim the year of the Lord’s favour. Jesus performed countless miracles, preached powerful messages, loved people generously and through these actions and words he showed that he was no ordinary man, but that he truly was the Son of God. Jesus recognised there were three great enemies of humanity that had to be defeated, sin, satan and death and shockingly to defeat them he had to die. Jesus died a lonely and painful death on a cross in an act that ordinarily would have spelled the end of him and the movement that followed him. But instead three days later Jesus rose from the dead, appeared to hundreds of people and then returned back to heaven proving that he had won the victory over these three great enemies of humanity. |
What does Jesus want from me?
What Jesus wants from us is fairly simple. Trust in him, that he truly did die in our place for our sin – which is where we lived our way instead of God’s way - and receive life, both now and to come. Now, you receive a whole new purpose in life to live for Jesus and help other people know the amazing love of Jesus. Better than that, you don’t have to do this alone but you get to a join a community of people who try to love one another and the world they live in as Jesus loved us – that’s called the church. In the life to come you receive eternal life. Whilst some folk think that we live in paradise here in our district, as beautiful as Circular Head might be something far greater waits for those who have put their trust in Jesus. |

O U R T E A M
Joel, Lyn and Naomi moved to Smithton in March 2017 for Joel to serve Jesus as the minister of Circular Head Anglican. They welcomed Isaac in 2021. Joel is passionate about people knowing Jesus and loves to show how the Bible is still relevant for us today. Joel and Lyn truly believe that the Bible isn’t boring, just some folk make it seem that way!
Pick a sport and Joel probably likes it, he sadly admits to being a long-suffering Carlton fan. On his day off he enjoys exploring the beauty of God’s creation here in Circular Head whether that be climbing the Nut, going to the beach or wandering around in the Tarkine. Joel also enjoys a flat white, eating curry, binge watching Netflix and reading a good book.
