Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to be a Christian to come to church?
No. You are more than welcome to come along and check us out. Church is a safe place for you to come and meet Jesus and even ask us some of those tough questions you have been wrestling with. What happens during a service? Typically, we will sing a few songs, hear an engaging talk from the Bible that is relevant to our everyday lives, pray to God, sing some more and be done. Twice a month we will share the Lord’s Supper during the service. This is a time when Christians look back to when Jesus died for our sins and look ahead to when we will share in the great heavenly banquet. If you are not yet a follower of Jesus feel free to either stay in your seat or you could come forward and be prayed for if you wish. How long does the service take? The service is finished each week by 12:15. Afterwards you are welcome to stick around with us for a cuppa and a bite to eat. Will I have to do anything if I come? No. You are free to come along and check things out without being pressured into doing anything you are not comfortable with. If you want to sing, then sing, but if you don’t then no worries. You should expect that someone will say hello and be friendly towards you, how you respond is up to you. |
Does it cost anything?
No! You are our guest. There is a collection that is taken each week but this is an opportunity for our regular members to contribute financially to God’s work – we do not expect our guests to donate money.
What should I wear?
Clothes preferably! There is no need to specially dress up though, most of our folk wear casual clothes. If you would wear it to town, you can wear it to church!
What about my baby/children?
We love having children at church, even if they are a bit noisy! Our families with children under 2 are most welcome to have them in the main service with them or to use our space at the back of our building where we have toys, comfy chairs, and you can still see and hear everything that is going on in the service. For the older children when the adults are hearing an engaging talk from the Bible our kids will be taken to another room for age appropriate fun and learning about Jesus. All of our kids church leaders not only have Working With Vulnerable People Cards but have also completed further child safe training to ensure we provide a safe environment for your children.
